⚡ Quick Summary

Bad prompts are why ChatGPT outputs generic garbage — not the AI itself. Use the Role + Context + Task + Format + Constraints formula, set your Custom Instructions once, and iterate on responses instead of accepting the first draft. These three habits alone will transform how much usable work you actually get out of ChatGPT daily.

📚 Article Summary

Most people are using ChatGPT like a search engine — and then wondering why the answers feel shallow. I see this every single week when I’m training business owners in Dubai. They type something like “write me a caption for my real estate listing” and get back something so generic it could apply to any apartment in any city in the world. Then they tell me AI doesn’t work for their business. It works. Their prompts don’t.The problem isn’t ChatGPT. The problem is that we were never taught how to talk to it. Think of it this way: if you hired a new assistant on their first day and gave them zero context, zero tone guidance, and zero idea of who your audience is — would you blame them for producing mediocre work? Of course not. ChatGPT is the same. It can only work with what you give it. Garbage in, garbage out. This isn’t a new concept, but people conveniently forget it when they’re frustrated with AI output. In my experience training agents across Dubai and the Gulf, the single biggest upgrade I see clients make is learning to write prompts with structure. Not fancy structure. Just: role, context, task, format, and constraints. That’s it. A prompt like “You are a Dubai real estate marketing consultant writing for first-time investors from India. Write a 150-word Instagram caption for a 2BHK in JVC priced at AED 950,000. Use a casual but professional tone. No emojis” will produce something 10x more usable than “write a caption for my property.” Same tool. Completely different output.I’ve seen clients go from spending 45 minutes rewriting AI output to using it almost verbatim — just by fixing how they write prompts. One of my students, a broker in Business Bay, was manually writing every WhatsApp follow-up message. After two sessions on prompt engineering, she built a reusable prompt template in ChatGPT that generates personalized follow-ups based on lead type, budget, and inquiry stage. She cut that task from 20 minutes per lead to under 2 minutes. That’s real time saved — not theory. What I teach in my AI course is that prompting is a skill, not a trick. It compounds. The better you get at communicating intent to a language model, the more useful every AI tool becomes — not just ChatGPT, but Claude, Gemini, and anything built on top of them. If you’re using GoHighLevel with AI automations, Canva’s AI features, or any marketing tool with built-in AI, the same principles apply. Your instructions determine your results.
